Long-term commitment
Project 1680
A generational commitment to traditional health knowledge: documented with care, protected by the communities it belongs to, and carried forward through practice and teaching.
Traditional health knowledge has been carried through generations of practice, observation and teaching. Much of it is held by communities and families rather than institutions, and much of it is at risk of being lost.
Project 1680 is Haven's long-term response. It is not a campaign or a product. It is a commitment to work alongside knowledge holders over decades, on their terms, so this knowledge remains living practice.
Three commitments
How the work is approached
Document
Recording traditional health knowledge carefully and respectfully, with consent and with the people who hold it.
Protect
Ensuring communities keep authorship and control over their own knowledge, rather than losing it to others.
Carry forward
Supporting the next generation of practitioners so knowledge is transmitted, taught and practised — not archived.
Principles
Knowledge holders lead. Consent comes first. Communities retain authorship. Nothing is documented, taught or shared without agreement.
Take part
Communities, knowledge holders and partners
If you hold traditional health knowledge, or represent a community or organisation interested in this work, we would like to hear from you.
